The culinary tradition of Pizzo, Calabria, became well known in 1940 thanks to the gelato production.
Soon de Gelato di Pizzo became a symbol of the city, which was in turn renamed as “the City of Gelato”.
Where kids enjoyed the ice one of them, Pippo Callipo, dreamed one day of being able to produce those ice creams. This dream to spread that unique and expensive flavour all over the world became reality in 2008,with the birth of Gelataria Callipo.
All the products are made of high quality fresh milk. When possible they buy ingredients from local producers or find the best ingredients in the country of origin: Hazelnuts from Piedmont, vanilla from Madagascar, Coconut from Sri Lanka, lemon and marsala wine from Sicily.
All their ice creams are free from:
- Hydrogenated fats
- Artificial flavours and colours
